Generative Art

A pioneer in generative art is Georg Nees. As early as 1965, he exhibited works in the study gallery of the Technical University of Stuttgart. At that time, laser or inkjet printers were still unthinkable. Texts were printed on various type wheel or roller printers and graphics exclusively on automatic drawing devices such as the Graphomat Z64 from Zuse, i.e. real plotters.

One of his appealing works might be the picture Schotter. It has been emulated in many gramming languages. My first implementation was in Logo, but as mentioned earlier, Processing is also excellent for such tasks. The very simple statement of svg-graphics comes in handy. An adapted version of the script with which my interpretation of the work was created is also in the zip archive which is available for download. Furthermore I have adapted a version in Javascript which can be called here.
