Clip Tenon Step Stool

This step stool shows all the features you'd expect from a digital fabrication design:

• sustainable material (plywood)
• material-saving cnc-machinable
• flat pack shipping and storage
• tool and glue free assembly
• simple and rock solid

I did three design iterations to get the construction of clip tenons right. Each version gained in stability. The validation was done on scaled down models.

The parts will fit a 350 mm x 600 mm piece of 15 mm baltic birch wood. One version of the drawing is prepared for machining with overcuts for a 5 mm diameter tool.
